Why dogs bite

My articles tend to be inspired by what I’m seeing day to day and recently I have seen a lot of dogs who bite!  In different scenarios, such as:

  • Badly biting other dogs in the household
  • Biting family members
  • Biting visitors
  • Biting strangers out on the walk

What counts as normal puppy behaviour?

In this article I’m going to discuss some of the behaviours that are ‘normal’ to see from a puppy.  I will explain why the pup is doing this behaviour and whether it is something that you can expect them to ‘grow out of’ or whether you will need to take action to remedy it.  These are the behaviours I will tackle.

  • Nipping

Children and dogs – what to watch out for and avoid

I want to draw attention to interactions between children and  dogs as a couple of images have caught my attention lately and I thought they would be worth sharing, along with some advice on how best to handle interactions between children and dogs –  just in case, as all too often when I’m contacted after a dog has bitten a child, the parents/owners didn’t see it coming and considered it unprovoked. How Long Does It Take To Improve Problem Dog Behaviour?

When I go to help my clients with their dog training, to resolve the problems they are experiencing with their dogs; I am always asked how long will it take until the bad dog behaviour improves? I get asked this by every owner, whether their dog is a biter, barker, has separation anxiety, pulls on the lead, jumps up, or isn’t toilet trained.
